This Week in Hagedornia - Feb. 26

This week we have no school on Friday. We had our Variety Show on Thursday the 26th. We are also working on are resource project in Science. We learned about the Boston Tea Party in Social Studies. Mr. Hagedorn was gone Wednesday and Thursday so we had an awesome sub. We started a debate project in Reading. Mr. Hagedorn gave two people the same topic and one person had to vote for it and the other person had to vote against it. We started our new 3rd quarter passion projects.

Good job to everybody that was excellent editor this week. Also, to everyone that is in the talent show.  We look forward to your performance tonight!

Fifth Grade Fever
This week in Fifth Grade Fever we are doing great. The scripts are getting better, and a lot of people are volunteering.  Mr. Hagedorn has an exciting new idea for the show that he will be sharing on Tuesday.  Hmmmmm…. suspense!

In music we are watching the opera Carmen. In gym we are finishing hockey. In art we are making a rainbow painting.

The “Graded Work” of this week’s Friday Folders will have to be postponed until Tuesday.  I will be updating grades throughout the weekend if you’d like to check on Power School.  THanks for understanding!! Don’t forget to have a great four day weekend!

This Week in Hagedornia - February 13, 2015

Hagedornia
                                   February 13th 2015


This week we took our science test on Friday.  Also we started a new unit in social studies. The Revolutionary War! It is so much fun to act things out! We also started to read " William Shakespeare”. We  did a Mystery Skype on Thursday, with a class from Kansas. It was so much fun to try and guess where they were from! They were very fun and very polite. I hope we Skype with them again!

Congratulations to all of our Excellent Editors! And also, Congrats to Mr. Hagedorn for getting invited to present the show in Springfield. Him and 3 students, picked by the class, were invited to go with him. Those 3 students were Eileen, Cam, KK. Congratulations!


Fifth Grade Fever
This week in Fifth Grade Fever we are doing awesome. Also Cam, Eileen, and KK were chosen by our class to do our show in Springfield in May as part of TECH 2015.

Super Specials
This week in art we started a new project! We also did jump rope for heart in gym! We also started doing a project for Media Center on Google Earth. We are also doing hockey in gym. It is so much fun!

This Week in Hagedornia - January 9

This week we were off for two days due to the bad weather.
But, on Monday Mrs. Danley informed us that the talent show tryouts are January 21st and January 22nd. Also, we had someone get picked for the G.R.E.A.T essay that will be read on the G.R.E.A.T. graduation. On Tuesday, we finished this week”s lit. circles. We were also introduced to our new read aloud, The Sign of the Beaver.

Congratulations
Congrats to Kelley for being picked to represent our class in the G.R.E.A.T. graduation.  She’ll read her essay on what it means to be a GREAT citizen at graduation.
Also congrats to Kevin and Andrew for being our Excellent Editor.
Fifth Grade Fever
This week we were supposed to have our 300th show. Unfortunately, because of the snow days, it will be next week.  We’re looking forward to it!

G.R.E.A.T
This week was going to be the last week of  G.R.E.A.T. but our graduation got canceled because of the snow day. The rescheduled date of the graduation is January 23rd.

In P.E we are doing basketball.  So let’s shoot some hoops and play.
In Music we are learning about the Talent show.

Update from October 17th

The Explorer Projects are due on Monday, November 3rd.  That is two weeks from this upcoming Monday.  Students have all of this information.  The only addition to this info is that they need to “share their sources” with me on Google Docs.  They have been learning about this process during their research time the last three weeks in the Media Center.

The Week in Review
This week we started a new unit in Science. In Social Studies we are continuing learning about explorers. Don't forget that your explorer projects are due on Nov. 3rd.  

In reading we will be doing a new story next week, but this week's story was We'll Never Forget You, Roberto Clemente.

We are reading a story called The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane.  We also Skyped with a 4th and 5th grade class from Ontario, Canada. Here is a picture. We were talking about the book Edward Tulane.  What a great time!

The Week in Review
This week we had our 2-1 spelling test. We are continuing our explorers at media center and at home. In math we are in topic 3. In social studies we are learning about expeditions. Our science book has us learning about engineers. This week we have done a lot of daily five. We took notes on four types of sentences,

This Week's Update: Progress Reports Today!

Thank you to Eileen, Cam, and KK for writing today's update. One important note: Progress Reports are going home. However, this probably isn't a good representation of "halfway" through the quarter. I will be adding several grades to PowerSchool this weekend and next week, as we have both Science and S.S. tests next week. -Mr. H

Week in Review

In reading we did a lot of vocabulary. We used a new app called Notability. We used some bouncy balls to do an experiment in science. It was a lot of fun! We hunted some whales in social studies like the Makah. We took a test to see if we will make the spelling bee. We couldn't tell enough stories about each word. In math we watched a rap. It was by Mr. C, who makes videos on math and science.
