Update from October 17th

The Explorer Projects are due on Monday, November 3rd.  That is two weeks from this upcoming Monday.  Students have all of this information.  The only addition to this info is that they need to “share their sources” with me on Google Docs.  They have been learning about this process during their research time the last three weeks in the Media Center.

The Week in Review

This week we started a new unit in Science. In Social Studies we are continuing learning about explorers. Don't forget that your explorer projects are due on Nov. 3rd.  

In reading we will be doing a new story next week, but this week's story was We'll Never Forget You, Roberto Clemente.

We are reading a story called The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane.  We also Skyped with a 4th and 5th grade class from Ontario, Canada. Here is a picture. We were talking about the book Edward Tulane.  What a great time!

• For Spelling, we are doing lesson 2-3.
• For Reading, we are reading Iditarod Dream By Ted Wood.
• For Science, we are learning more about engineering.
• For Social Studies, we are learning about explorers and will have a quiz over 13 of them at the end of next week.  Students have been practicing along the way!
• Next week we are starting G.R.E.A.T on Monday.  This will continue for the next seven weeks.

This week we had our 2-1 spelling test. We are continuing our explorers at media center and at home. In math we are in topic 3. In social studies we are learning about expeditions.
